Copa Airlines flight CM211 is the late nonstop from Panama City Tocumen (PTY) to Mariscal Sucre (UIO). Through 24 October 2026 a published schedule lists a 22:31 departure from Tocumen and a 00:32 arrival in Quito — 12:32am local, the next calendar day. Public status boards for 3–9 October 2026 showed that same 12:32am scheduled arrival, and recent landings in late September were clustered around midnight. From 25 October 2026 the listed arrival moves only slightly, to about 12:31am. Check copa.com or your booking. Copa’s hub means many people on CM211 have already changed planes in Panama. The clock in Quito does not care how long your day has been.
A landing after midnight is a different airport than a 7pm arrival. The building is open. The energy is not.
What the terminal is like after midnight
Immigration for an international arrival is still mandatory. At this hour the line is often short because the bank is thin, and it can also be slow because only a desk or two are working. Neither outcome is something you should bet a taxi plan on. Have your passport ready. If you started the day in another country and only connected in Panama, you are arriving in Ecuador as an international passenger all the same.
Baggage claim after midnight feels longer than the clock says, because the hall is quiet and you are done. Stay at the belt until your bag is there. Do not send one person outside to “find a car” while the other watches the luggage. The offers start at the exit, and they are aimed at people who look finished.
Walk to the arrivals door and to a name sign. If nobody with your name is there, email the booking address from the confirmation — do not take a ride from someone who walks up and says they were sent for you. How that handoff is supposed to look is in meet and greet at UIO. The general case for not negotiating at this hour is arriving late at UIO.
Same-evening context, if you are comparing tickets: LATAM LA1443 from Bogotá is typically around 11:00pm, and United from Houston is typically around 11:25pm. CM211 is the one that puts you on the curb after midnight.
The drive on an empty highway
Tababela is not in the city. Ruta Viva runs from the airport toward Cumbayá and Quito. After midnight the highway is usually clear, and a run into Quito is commonly about 35–45 minutes. Cumbayá is on the way and often closer to 25–35 minutes. Those are nighttime figures. A Quito hotel in the afternoon can take 40–60 minutes, which is why “the airport is close” is a bad sentence to trust at 12:30am if you have only heard daytime advice. Wyndham Quito Airport, if that is the stop, is typically 10–15 minutes in Tababela.
You will feel the altitude getting into the car, especially if Panama was hot and sea-level this morning. A prepaid car means you can sit down without discussing the fare first.
Book the SUV before you leave for the airport
At 12:30am the cheap-looking option is the person already standing there. That is the option with the least information: no name, no flight tracking, no set price. A prepaid luxury SUV is the other way around. The driver is licensed and airport-authorized, the rate is already paid in USD, and a late CM211 does not become a new negotiation. Rideshare at UIO is not a plan you should count on at this hour. More on who is allowed to work the airport is in licensed airport drivers.
The fares are $50 to Wyndham Quito Airport, $75 anywhere in Cumbayá, and $100 anywhere in Quito. The SUV holds a maximum of 4 passengers. Book at least three days before the pickup. Email book@uiotransfers.com with the flight number and the address if anything in the reservation is unclear.
Put CM211 on the booking. Look at the rates and book before you fly, then save the confirmation offline. The driver should be the person you walk toward, not a decision you make in the hall.
